  29.         This 'CHECKOUT' BBS distributes software for the sole purpose         
  30.       of testing prior to purchase.  You've 24 hours to try the software      
  31.       and determine that it is worth  purchasing, then you must  destroy      
  32.       it.   The  BBS Sysop feels  that it is  unfair to  computer  users      
  33.       that they are unable to evaluate software to see if it suits their      
  34.       needs.  Many  users have purchased products by the way the program      
  35.       'looks' on the box and have been extremely disappointed - and have      
  36.       therefore wasted their money and (more important) time.  Nobody in      
  37.       their right  mind would purchase a  car  without  test  driving it      
  38.       first,  or  for  that  matter...purchase  clothes  without  trying      
  39.       them  on, so how  can  software  vendors  expect users to  buy one      
  40.       of their products without first testing it?  They will send copies      
  41.       of their software to large corporations to test but seem to forget      
  42.       there are also other users in the market willing to purchase their      
  43.       product if it meets their needs.   This is where this checkout BBS      
  44.       comes in.   This program is for evaluation only,  if you like this      
  45.       product  then  go  to  your  local computer store and purchase it,      
  46.       otherwise PLEASE do not USE or in anyway DISTRIBUTE this  product!      
  47.       There are many advantages to purchasing this product including:         
  48.                                                                               
  49.       1) Technical Support: Software vendors set  up  technical  support      
  50.                  lines  for  the  purpose  of  helping  their                 
  51.               registered users get the  most  out  of  the                    
  52.                     product and help with any bug concerns, etc.              
  53.     It is to your advantage to be  able  to  use                              
  54.     this (and the many features of the program).                              
  55.                                                                               
  56.       2) Manuals:           Manuals are  a  very  important  part  of  a      
  57.           software package.  No book  or text file can                        
  58.             replace the  original  manuals,  which  come                      
  59.     with the product. This enables  the  user to                              
  60.     get the most out of the package,  especially                              
  61.     with the very complex programs of today.                                  
  62.                                                                               
  63.       3) Upgrades:          With  buying  the  original program, you are      
  64.     entitled  to  low priced or free upgrades to                              
  65.     new versions, bug fixes, and 'enhancements'.

  67.       4) Legality:          Using a program  without owning a registered      
  68.     copy is illegal.

  70.       5) Control Of The     When  companies  who  create  good  products      
  71.          Industry:          are  supported,  it  reinforces the need for      
  72.          good products and helps the company continue                         
  73.     to create more  quality  products.   On  the                              
  74.     other hand, companies who create substandard                              
  75.     products have  two  options; either  improve                              
  76.     their products or get out of the industry.

  78.       Until  companies come up with a better  way  of  allowing  users  to    
  79.       test their products before purchasing, 'checkout' BBSs will continue    
  80.       to make available products  for  your  testing.  Companies  recently    
  81.       have started to head in this  direction and you can now return  some    
  82.       products  to  the  company  if  you  are  not  completely  satisfied    
  83.       (Norton, and a few others), but this does not remedy  the  situation    
  84.       as the refund/credit takes a long time to get processed and is a BIG    
  85.       hassle!   We feel that under the current software industry standards    
  86.       of doing business, that evaluating software releases prior to actual    
  87.       purchase is still the best solution.

  93.       This BBS is a  non-profit  system, which  allows you to sample  files   
  94.       before purchasing it.   Once you have seen what the  product is like,   
  95.       either  purchase  the product, or remove it from any and all            
  96.       disks/places of data storage.  Also note, that it is ILLEGAL to copy    
  97.       software, and keep the copy, without buying the software.               
  98.       Any uploads transfered to the BBS system, are those that the caller     
  99.       chose to transfer their right and registration to the product to This   
  100.       BBS.

  102.       The uploader takes responsibility for the software, as stated above.    
  103.       Since the uploader had transfered the software, and all the rights      
  104.       of the software, to the BBS, he chooses them to be made available       
  105.       as demos, to be distributed to those under the intention of fully       
  106.       purchasing the software, or simply to use as a preview only to be       
  107.       disliked, and therefore removed.

  110.       may be held accountable, and prosecuted.  Remove the files you          
  111.       downloaded NOW from all data storage units, if this is your intention.  
  112.       Pirating refers to the act of keeping computer software that someone    
  113.       else has purchased after you have previewed it, or if you copy the      
  114.       software and distribute it to others.
